Rendering Laboratory Results

Structure of the results report

It is up to you how to render laboratory results. However, here is the example laboratory results compatible with LIS iLab.

Laboratory results Report

According to the structure of the above figure, items (panels and tests) are grouped in Departments (Hematology, Biochemistry, etc.). Department groups are ordered by department's rank. Every department section can have its own Note.

Within Department group, the items are listed. Items could be two types - Test or Profile (Panel). Test represent a single measurement entity, such as Glucose, TSH, etc. Panel is a group of Tests and very basic example is Complete Blood Count (CBC). Panel items can vary from visit to visit as there could be optional tests included in one visit and not included in other. Items in Department group are sorted by their own rank. Subitems in Panels are sorted too.

Every Test (as sole entity or as a part of a Profile) can have one or more Footnotes. Footnotes within one report as numbered with a sequence number in order of their appearance in the report. At the end of the report, all mentioned footnotes are printed in sequence number order.

At the end, there could be a end of report section.
